As this first day of the new year draws to a close, I am feeling a mix of emotions when I think back on the past and look forward to the future. I feel excited and eager. I also feel a little anxious and uneasy.
We live in uncertain times to say the least.
But in reality, all we truly have is the here and now.
So instead of dwelling over the past and worrying too much about the future, I’m resolved to putting more of my energy and attention to living for today. Reflection and vision are important. But so is presence and mindfulness.
It’s the balance of the three I’m seeking to master this year. I want to be less in my head all the time and more in the moment.
And in this particular moment, I feel especially grateful for the many blessings in my life: my loving husband, our sweet doggies, and our amazing friends and family with whom we just shared a delightful (and delicious!) dinner filled with lots of love and laughter.
Cheers to 2017! Here’s to a happy new year and a happy new now.
